Built From the Pan Up
Crafting authentic Detroit-style pizza for the neighborhood.

No Shortcuts. Just Good Parts.
At Gearhead Pizza, we believe that making a great pie is a lot like building a classic muscle car: you need premium parts, a lot of passion, and absolutely zero shortcuts.
Detroit-style pizza was literally born in the automotive industry, originally baked in the blue steel utility pans used on the assembly lines. We honor that hard-working tradition by building our pizzas the exact same way. We take our time with the dough, load up the cheese edge-to-edge, and bake it until it hits that absolute peak of golden, crispy perfection. It’s a labor of love, engineered to fuel you up.
Anatomy of a Gearhead Pie
The Chassis
Every great build starts with a solid foundation. Our dough is proofed to perfection, giving you a thick, pillowy, and airy center with an incredibly satisfying bottom crunch.
The Trim
We don't do bare crusts. We push premium cheese all the way to the absolute edge of our steel pans, creating a caramelized, crispy, golden cheese crown known as the 'frico.'
The Racing Stripes
In authentic Detroit fashion, the sauce goes on last. We finish our pies with thick, rich racing stripes of our signature red sauce right before they hit the table.

Rooted in the Neighborhood
We aren't just a pizza shop; we’re part of the local crew. Located just a block north of Mills Park and sharing the block with our neighbors at Distinct Ink Tattoo, Gearhead Pizza is designed to be your ultimate neighborhood pit stop. Whether you are grabbing a slice after a fresh tattoo session, feeding the family after a day at the park, or just kicking back with friends, our garage doors are open and the ovens are hot.
